Love is not getting, but giving. It is sacrifice. And sacrifice is glorious!
I disagree. Saints are usually martyrs in this world. We should not seek to become one-dimensional saints but whole beings in all our dimensions; sometimes, we must sacrifice for the greater good, but a sacrifice in vain is sacrilege. To give up something precious only to see it squandered is one of life’s deepest pains.
This should not embitter you against love in its entirety, for love is something human and divine. Instead, we must both bear wins and losses, joys and suffering, and be glad for the wisdom these experiences teach.
